Connecting the Nation Cambodia Announces Plans for 25 Bridges

Phnom Penh: Prime Minister Hun Manet announced a new infrastructure project during the groundbreaking ceremony for the Chak Angre Krom-Prek Pra Bridge today. Cambodia is poised to build a total of 25 bridges spanning the country's four main rivers, the Upper Mekong, Lower Mekong, Bassac, and Tonle Sap.

Currently, 19 bridges have already been constructed, with 3 under construction and 3 additional projects undergoing pre-feasibility studies," the Prime Minister noted. This ambitious plan highlights the government's commitment to expanding transportation infrastructure.

Prime Minister Hun Manet emphasized the remarkable progress compared to 1979, when only 1.5 bridges existed across these major waterways. He highlighted the Preah Monivong Bridge and the Chroy Changvar Bridge, which even suffered damage during the civil war.

"Soon, Cambodia will boast 25 bridges across its rivers," he declared, underscoring the government's continued focus on infrastructure development and encouraging investment in the transport sector.
